Occasionally, a simple film emerges that surprises you with its brutal lack of sophistication. Initially, you might consider it amateurish, but then you realise the story has a familiar, persistent everyday theme for women that captivates you with its clever insight. The not too subtle voice characterization, adjusted to double speed enhances the mischievous humour within. A brilliant one-man band production and worthy winner.

Judge Tony Cane-Honeysett: "Original, succinct, perfectly executed, very funny and very relatable. A great example of honest, authentic filmmaking."

Synopsis

An intrusive thought comes to ruin a woman's bath...

“Is This a Good Time…” is a painfully relatable story of a woman’s bath, ruined by intrusive thoughts. This film was written, voice-acted, illustrated, and animated by Florence Poppy Deary herself.

Florence is a writer, animator, and director with a sharp instinct for dialogue and observational comedy. A childhood spent cross-legged on the floor, listening to Blackadder tapes on repeat, shaped her talent for tight writing and dry, cutting humor.

She gained popularity through her cult Instagram account, where she delivered pithy, acerbic takes on London life. Even while working full-time as a writer crafting award-winning campaigns at Wieden+Kennedy and Mother London, she never stopped animating, writing, and directing—constantly developing her own scripts and honing her distinct comedic voice.

Florence: "Animation is just a great tool for any writer or director to have up their sleeve. It allows you to try stuff, and hone your voice without having to pay through the nose for a film crew and all the post production. The budget for this animation was literally £0”
